TBM Value Bets
TBM Value Bets is a suite of 8 systems (1 Profile) all based on Top Rated Horses or Favourites using The Selection Hunter. The bets are only placed if at the time of bet placement the available odds offer perceived value.TBM Value Bets are provided free to use for all TBM subscribers.
The 8 systems available are FavValue1, FavValue2, FavValue3, MRValue1, PRValue1, PRValue2, ORValue1 and TSValue1.
How Does It Work ?
For clarity, let’s look at one of the selection systems – MRValue1.
This system is based on selections that are Merlin Rating Rank 1 and Predicted Rank 1.
For today (31/03/2025) this produces 17 results.
We then add what we believe should be the minimum and maximum odds for that bet to hold value. This odds range is based on our own indepth research for the race class, type, distance etc. In TBM they come through on the Tipster Screen with the odds range that is allowed. If the bet is in this odds range there is perceived value in the bet.

The additional criteria for this system is that the selection must be the favourite and have a maximum odds of 6.
Historical Results ?
We have tweaked Selection Hunter so that we can back test our value bets, however at this time, the ability to back test the TBM Value Bets is not available to other TBM users.
These are the results from 01st Jan 2023 – 30th March 2025 for each of the 8 value systems.
Advised Settings ?
The default settings are all £50 Start Bank with 1% Stake (50p) using Percentage Staking Plan that increases/decreases at the end of every betting day.
Once you have some bet data yourself you can tweak the staking plan to suit your risk threshold. The default settings do not have any kind of targets or stop loss setup. One idea would be to use the global target and aim for 1% (or higher) of your combined start banks. If you are using 8 x £50 then this would initially be £4.
When are the Selections Available ?
The Selections are normally available in TBM by 1100 hours. TBM will pick up any selections automatically.
Final Thoughts
These are all value bets. This means that each bet placed has a perceived edge (or very close). We will still have losing days. Even losing weeks. Over time, we would expect to be in profit. Remember this is Horse Racing. There is no such thing as dead cert.
Disclaimer
There is no guarantee that future results will mirror historical results. It is simply an indication. Therefore we make no claim that any of the TBM Value Bets are profitable. It is advised that Test Stakes are used until you are absolutely happy with the selection system.
